Spring Service Break Trips

IMPACT Service Break Trips over Spring Break offer a unique service learning experience to the Southeast United States. Our trips are planned in conjunction with local nonprofits in order to be highly aligned with community-identified needs.
 
  • Participants qualify for one Experiential Learning credit.
  • All trips depart Saturday, March 2 & return within the week.  Specific dates are listed with each site.

Community Development & Civil Rights in Memphis, Tennessee

Engage with the 5th most-populous city in the Southeast, one of the most historic and culturally significant cities in the Southeastern United States.   This trip also allows you to visit the National Museum of Civil Rights!

Affordable Housing in Asheboro, North Carolina

UGA IMPACT’s longest-standing partnership is with Habitat for Humanity in Asheboro, North Carolina.  Since Habitat sells homes to low-income community members for cost, volunteer labor is extremely important for meeting the needs of the community.   For the last 24 years, UGA students have been building homes in North Carolina’s Randolph County to support Habitat’s mission for bringing people together to build affordable homes, community, and hope.

Founded in 1670, Charleston is a beautiful city on the coast of South Carolina.

Charlotte is North Carolina’s most-populated city!  Work with your team to support youth access to education and resources in Charlotte.

Coastal Preservation in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia is the oldest city in Georgia and also home to the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, a marine science research institute of the University of Georgia located on the northern end of Skidaway Island.

Fall Service Break Trips (now past)

IMPACT Service Break Trips over Fall Break offer a unique service learning experience!  These trips are planned in collaboration with UGA Archway Partnership, allowing our trips to be highly aligned with community-identified needs.
 
  • Participants qualify for one Experiential Learning credit.
  • Depart Friday afternoon on October 27 and return Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Hartwell, Georgia

Community Development and Youth Advocacy

The IMPACT Service Break Trip to Hartwell works with many nonprofits that benefit citizens of all ages in the Hartwell community.  

Hartwell was named as Georgia’s Outstanding Community Transformation in 2023!  This city of about 4,480 people is the seat of Hart County.  It touches Lake Hartwell on the border of Georgia and South Carolina, and was named for Nancy Hart, a Revolutionary War hero.

Dahlonega, Georgia

Community Wellness

This Fall Break Trip focuses on Community Wellness, pairing UGA students with local nonprofit organizations to ensure our work is benefiting needs that the community has identified. 

Dahlonega, Georgia was recently named one of the best small towns in America!  As the seat of Lumpkin County, Dahlonega has a population of about 6,800 citizens.  It is the historic home of the University of North Georgia, which now has campuses across the northeast of the state.
